"A very uplifting and moving experience. I did not have any expectations; however, I believe the event exceeded any expectations I would have had"

"The speakers were so great. Life changing words were spoken!!! I have to realize that I cannot do everything alone. Now I have someone very important in my life, our Lord Jesus Christ!! Things have really changed for me and my way of thinking and living."

"I was edified and uplifted. I have known God's purpose for life for quite awhile and I am moving forward with an urgency to do His will. Thank you Jesus!"

"I felt like a lot was said that God had been telling me anyway, and it took me hearing it one more time, one more way to get me focused. I am glad I came. I really did love the event and appreciate all the hard work that went into it"

"After I left, I felt great. I met a lot of nice people and I am proud of my new girlfriends. I decided to go back to school and attend church regularly. Thank You for the wonderful experience! Can't wait for next year."

 Greetings Girlfriends!

Girlfriends Get-A-Way 2009 was a success! The ladies really enjoyed themselves, as we got "Back To The Basics." Friday night was kicked off with relaxing spa services by Totally You A Mobil Spa. The praise dance group, Divinity, from The Church at Bethel's Family helped to open up the program for Elder Sandra Reis, who reminded us about the power of our words. The night ended as the ladies enjoyed praise and worship by Jerry Wade, Jr. and a fun session of karaoke! Saturday was even better! We had some dynamic speakers...Melodie Wade encouraged us to be "uncommon" and find our stride,  Cheryl D. Lynch taught us about the importance of celebrating friendship, Dawn D. Fobbs gave us practical tips on how to organize our sometimes crazy lives while Pastor Dennis Daniels, Jr. closed it out with a life changing message on the importance of knowing your worth! The teen girls had a great time interviewing former Texans J.J. Moses and learning about the "gift of virginity" from Janice Ward. Who could forget the sounds of DJ Dame Hype with Hype Sounds DJ services,  the dancercise with Laura Nilion, salsa lessons from Strictly Street Salsa and the yummy Girlfriends Get-A-Way Gourmet Luncheon! But wait, how can you have a girls event without shopping? The variety of vendors definitely helped to add a special touch!

Overall, God showed out and GFG 2009 was a success! Most importantly new friendships were developed and lives were changed! A special thank you to all that particpated, prayed, sponsored, donated and volunteered. Your involvement was not in vain.

Continue to pray, as we get ready for GFG 2010. Check the website and keep an eye open for the latest updates.

Please stay informed with Girlfriends Get-a-Way and remember, what goes on with girlfriends, stays with girlfriends.

Until we meet again,

 Leslie
